Scene Not Heard: in-depth interview with Jorge Boehringer about Prague experimental scene










Everyone knows that New York, Berlin, and London have historically vibrant communities of artists… places like Vienna, San Francisco, and Montreal are hubs of activity… but at Intransitive, we’re curious about what it’s like to make music and sound art outside of the established centers of culture. Our regular Scene Not Heard column asks artists to tell us about where they live, and how the place influences the sounds they make. I spoke with Jorge Boehringer, an American ex-pat who performs music as Core of the Coalman and teaches Sound Production and Experimental Media at Prague College, what it’s like to make abstract music in the Czech Republic.
